Phuthuma Projects cc is a 100% Woman owned South African based Building & Civil construction company which has been operating in the Western Cape Saldanha Municipal region for more than 22 years. The formation of Phuthuma was born out of a need to develop a primarily Black-owned construction company that would harness and develop the abundant Black construction talent in its area. Phuthuma is a Zulu word that means “To move fast”. To move fast towards the achievement of its vision is shared by various reputable construction companies who are willing to form Joint Venture partnerships with Phuthuma.

Phuthuma Projects is a Vredenburg based BBBEE enterprise which was developed from humble beginnings in 1996. Its founders, Mr Haroun and Sumaya Finch, realising a business opportunity but having no start-up capital, sold their house to finance the company.

Similar to most enterprises during the start-up phase, they were unable to attain lines of credit and resorted to using their credit card to purchase plant and material. Phuthuma Projects currently employs over 33 employees and skills are constantly being transferred via the apprenticeship approach to training and development. Formal training processes are being developed in order to ensure that the learning process continues and progresses. Phuthuma Projects takes its community responsibility seriously and has provided opportunity for practical training for students of local Colleges for construction apprentices programmes.

The company is affiliated with relevant building boards and societies highlighted in the details of this document.
