Sunrise energy (Pty) Ltd propose to develop a Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage facility adjacent to the Port of Saldanha on the West Coast, Western Cape Provinece, Illtha Projects has been retained to provide Project Management, Engineering and Construction Management Services to Sunrise Energy for the project.
The proposed facility includes a marine and terrestrial component. The marine component would include a system for off-loading the LPG via a Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) system in Saldanha Bay. The terrestrial component includes mounted horizontal pressure storage tanks, associated equipment with road and rail loading gantries and a possible bulk pipeline to customers such as Saldanha Steel & Duferco.
This activity will require environmental authorization from the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEA&DP) through a Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process. ERM Southern Africa (PTY) Ltd has been appointed as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAP) to undertake the EIA.
