Constructive values of old theatre and the bushveld ecoregion, exposed the tectonic essences whilst exploiting the amplitude that gave great height to this large diaphanous central space. Recycled aged brick and industrial ceiling beams echoes a hint at the past materiality used…now the DNA of a new building!
Heini van Niekerk Architects used natural light, slatted walls and natural clay bricks to create screens that help keep this home naturally lit and well ventilated in addition to a special designed hollow ceramic block used to allow for ventilation and lighting in the hot South African climate.
